Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College (TPBC) is the institution under the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT). It is a Christian institute in the Pentecostal tradition. Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College started as a Bible School, which was established in 2003 by offering certificates in Bible and Theology. In 2005, it was officially inaugurated as a Bible College, by the name “Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College,” to offer Diplomas in Bible and Theology. In 2007, TPBC started a distance learning BA Degree Program in Bible and Theology, which is done in collaboration with the Global University headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, USA.

TPBC works under the FPCT Department of Bible and Theology Training that coordinates and supervises biblical and theological training for equipping men and women of God for the works of service.

Historical Background of Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College


Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College (also known by its acronym of “TPBC”) was established in 2005 by the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT), with the aim of equipping men and women to serve the Lord (the Church) and the community (the society). The Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT) is officially registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs in the United Republic of Tanzania with Reg. No. S.O. 6640/2001. 


Before 2005, the place which is now known as Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College was known as Swedish School Tazengwa, where Swedish Missionaries’ children used to stay and receive their primary school education while their parents were engaged in the missionary work. 


Since its inception, Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College has been operating under the leadership of the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania supported by fellow partners from abroad. 


TPBC is located in Tazengwa District, within Tabora region, Tanzania. From Nzega town centre, TPBC is 4km South, along Nzega - Tabora Main Road, on the right side. TPBC has been a good place for visitors, especially Scandinavian visitors, tourists, and other guests from within Tanzania. Tazengwa village is a historical place. It is where the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT) got started in 1932. By then it was known as the Swedish Free Mission (SFM). 


The Swedish Free Mission was incepted in Tanganyika in 1932 at Nzega district, Tabora Region, by the early Missionary pioneers commissioned by the Swedish Free Mission in Stockholm, Sweden for the purposes of planting local churches and performing social work.

Accreditation and Endorsement

Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College (TPBC) is accredited by the Association for Pentecostal Theological Education in Africa (APTEA). APTEA is a member of the World Alliance for Pentecostal Theological Education and, as such, a partner to other similar regional ecclesiastical quality assurance agencies. Endorsement or Accreditation by APTEA aids TPBC in evaluating its effectiveness in achieving its own desired outcomes through its students. 

Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College (TPBC), from its inception, has also been working closely with outstanding institutions. It is primarily affiliated with the Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania (FPCT), the owner. It is also affiliated with Global University, which has its headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, USA. Graduates from Tazengwa Pentecostal Bible College, upon completing their Diploma in Bible and Theology, they will be remaining with only 64 credit hours to earn their Bachelor’s degree in Bible and Theology offered by the Global University. The other 64 credit hours will be transferred to the Global University to make a 128-credit hour Degree.

Global University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. Global University is also accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), a nationally recognized agency under the auspices of the US Department of Education. DETC is also a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
